A reader with a dictionary attached to every word.
TELA is a reading app for learning a language by reading the things you'd read anyway — books, articles, lyrics, subtitles — with every word quietly colored by how well you know it.
Most language tools ask you to curate every word you want to learn. TELA flips that — you read what you actually want to read, and the dictionary side is handled for you. Every word is tap-to-understand, and your vocabulary state evolves as a side-effect of reading, not as a separate gamified exercise.
Two things it cares about: dictionary depth — homographs stay distinguished, and you see a word's roots and how formal it is; and reading-first flow — no streaks, no XP, no celebratory popups.
A solo project by Maksim Shitov, currently in alpha and free to use while it's being built.
